A combination of power to weight and driver ability. In the proper hands, the Elise wouldn’t even see the Z06’s taillights. Furthermore, it didn’t “keep up” with the Z06 here either. As soon as the twisty section ended, the Z06 would leave the Elise trailing.

sorry wasn’t clear – the Elise driver is excellent … he’s got good lines and hence why he’s catching a car that’s double the torque & power of the lotus… it’s the Vette driver thats hopeless… bad lines thru corners which is why the elise catches him in the twisty bits
