Acura’s LMP1 driver Simon Pagenaud in France at Val de Vienne race track. Pagenaud will be back for a second year with de Ferran Motorsports in the new LMP1 Acura ARX-02a. HPD and Wirth Research modified the Courage LC75 into 2007’s ARX-01a and 2008’s great ARX-02b. Paolo Catone and Ben Wood designed the Courage LC75. Courage Competition was purchased by Oreca in 2007. Simon raced in the 2008 24 Hours of Le Mans with Team Oreca Matmut’s Courage-Oreca LC70 Judd, but Marcel Fässler had a crash near the Porsche Curves. Olivier Panis was the third driver.

de Ferran Motorsports plans to enter the 2010 IndyCar Series. Gil de Ferran’s team might continue in the American Le Mans Series.

Simon raced in the 2007 Champ Car World Series and tested with Creation Autosportif and Dunlop in early 2008 before signing with Gil de Ferran’s LMP2 Acura team.
It would be nice to see new indy cars for the 2011 IndyCar Series. Lotus made some great one like the 1969 Lotus 64 Ford.

Unfortunately, Dallara will build the new spec indy car. Lola and Panoz should be allowed to build new indy cars. North American open wheel racing is being rebuilt.
